"I will be knocking doors, today - as we always do - it's the best part of campaigning!"  Read the official campaign press release here:

Frederick, MD, Sept 15 – Alderwoman Donna Kuzemchak (D) issued the following statement after Donald Frost, a former employee of a city owned golf course, made public an intent to sue the City of Frederick, Kuzemchak, and two city employees for defamation and more.

“The timing of Mr. Frost’s allegations are suspect, given our political season; but instances like this arise, from time to time, working in government.  The job of a city official is to be sure all concerns are taken seriously and looked at properly. In this instance, information was brought to me and I shared that information. I was interviewed as part of the investigation, but had no part in making the final decision on firing Mr. Frost.”

As is a normal and proper course of action, all inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to City Attorney, Saundra Nickols.

April 22 - COUNTY EXECUTIVE ENDORSES DONNA K

Alderwoman Donna Kuzemchak, or Donna K as she’s known by many locals, is off to a strong start in her bid for re-election with an endorsement from one of the region’s top Democrats, County Executive Jan Gardner.

"If I had to describe Donna Kuzemchak in one word, I would choose "fighter”, said Gardner, in a written statement to the campaign.  “Frederick City residents can always count on Donna to fight for their issues and be on their side.”

Kuzemchak is the first Aldermanic candidate to receive an endorsement from Gardner in the 2017 election year.

One of the most seasoned elected officials Frederick City history, Kuzemchak has led on major causes, from affordable living, education, and historic preservation, to the arts and equality.

In 2016, Kuzemchak was featured in ‘The New York Times’ for her equal rights advocacy to remove the controversial Roger B. Taney statue from the grounds of City Hall.  Kuzemchak continued making headlines, in 2017, leading the Frederick Women's March, one of the hundreds of Washington DC sister marches.

“I am honored to know Donna Kuzemchak and wholeheartedly support her bid for re-election,” Gardner concluded.

The Kuzemchak campaign plans to announce its first major event in the coming weeks.

“Getting things done for kids and working families is right,” says Kuzemchak.  “We’ve made amazing progress and I want to continue as a practical, open-minded and moral voice for all city residents.  That will always be the fight for what’s right.”

April 6 - DONNA K PROTECTS FREDERICK VOTERS

Alderwoman Donna Kuzemchak registered a big win on behalf of Frederick City voters and historic preservation during a public hearing tonight.  Leading negotiations, Kuzemchak led the Board of Aldermen to prevent the removal of prohibitions to rezonings and annexations during election time. Kuzemchak brought forward a compromise that shortened the time frame and to keep prohibitions in place.

Prohibition is now the day before the Frederick City Primary Election to the day after inauguration.

"This was a fight for what's right," according to Kuzemchak, "to protect citizens from lame duck Boards making changes the voters really don't want."

"The city could have lost historic preservation overlays if the nine month timeline remained." An irresponsible idea, Kuzemchak stated. "Leading efforts to a compromise that both protects voters and historic preservation was the right thing to do."
